LHS Marching Band

The LHS Marching Band is comprised of any student who signs up for high school band. Marching band is part of the band curriculum at Ludington. The band is broken down into three parts which are winds, percussion and color guard. Color guard participants are selected through audition and will only be considered with prior or current dance experience. Percussion assignments are given based on audition and under special circumstances by request.

The marching band performs at all home football games, pep assemblies and town functions such as the 4th of July Parade, Memorial Day Parade and special events. The band has two uniforms. One is the traditional band uniform that is used at all home games after Labor Day and a summer uniform that is used during the summer parades and smaller functions. The Ludington High School Marching Band is rich in tradition and is respected and appreciated by our town.

Home football games are a huge part of the community of Ludington and as we all know, the game does not start until the band plays! Students enrolled in high school band will perform at every home varsity football game held at Oriole Field. Students will be asked to arrive an hour before each game in uniform, which consists of band hat, jacket, pants, black shoes and black socks. Individuals with long hair are asked to pull hair up to make the uniform look neater. The band is very visible at football games and is truly appreciated by our Oriole football team, coaches, parents and community members. The band stays for the whole game unless a weather call is made. Friday nights at Oriole field is where student memories are made.
